|2.00 / 2.00||
Human Resources Services
Does the institution cover sustainability topics in new employee orientation and/or in outreach and guidance materials distributed to new employees, including faculty and staff?:
A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Sustainability is embedded formally into the university's Welcome Orientation for New Employees. This event is offered three times per year with an average attendance of about 120 new employees. A representative from the Office of Sustainability is often included in the agenda.
The Welcome Orientation features a Marketplace where the Office of Sustainability operates a booth sharing information about programs, engagement opportunities and more background on our services and responsibilities.
An initiative aimed at implementation of a new comprehensive orientation program is also underway. Sustainability has been identified as a key element of the new orientation process. This will be implemented within the next 12 months.
The Academic Director provides an orientation to new faculty at the New Faculty Orientation that is hosted by the Centre for Teaching and Learning. This event is held each August and January. It describes opportunities for faculty members to get involved in workshops, grants, events, and other communities of practice related to sustainability on campus.
