Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
We calculated hours using three major initiatives on North Campus. We recognize that residence, campus recreation and other community initiatives would contribute additional community service hours, however these are not reported on. COMMUNITY SERVICE LEARNING http://www.csl.ualberta.ca Community Service Learning (CSL) calculations are made based on estimates for the 2011/2012 academic year where 700 students will participate in a CSL course component, 16 non-profit board student internships (50 hours each per academic year) and four Humanities 101 volunteers (20 hours each per academic year). STUDENT’S UNION http://www.su.ualberta.ca(click on Services): Students' Union Services calculations are made based on student staff and volunteer participation in the Students’ Union services, governance, advocacy and programming departments for the 2011/2012 academic year and include Student Financial Aid Information Services (SFAIC), Student OmbudService, Centre for Student Development, Peer Support Centre, InfoLink, Student Group Services (including the executive and group members of all 387 registered student groups), Safewalk, Campus Food bank, Advocacy, Student Governance, and Venues & Programming. Please note that all number are estimates and it should specifically be noted that the Students Groups Services numbers are based on their staff’s experience with representative groups at various levels of involvement, and are not based on any collected information provided by the student groups themselves. UNIVERSITY STUDENT SERVICES www.uss.ualberta.ca University Student Services calculations were made based on estimates from the 2010/11 academic year with data collected from the following University Student Services - the Sexual Assault Centre (25 students, 4,000 hours), Career and Placement Services (40 students, 12,750 hours), Specialized Support and Disability Services (34 students, 26,532 hours), Aboriginal Student Services Centre (125 students, 1,046 hours) and University Health Centre (29 students, 5,040 hours).
