A brief description of the reusable to-go container program:
NORTH CAMPUS
University Dining Services on North Campus offers a reusable clam-shell container for a deposit that students can take food away in. Students can then return their used container for a clean one at their next to-go meal. In the Lister Centre dining hall, University Dining Services has recently switched to an all china service which will greatly reduce waste and reduce costs for the purchase of disposable dishes. Additionally, vendors in the Students’ Union building offer discounts ranging from 20 cents to 25 cents for patrons who bring their own reusable containers.
AUGUSTANA CAMPUS
Augustana Campus dining services offers a ‘grab-and-go’ container for students who choose to leave the dining hall for their meal rather than eat-in using the plates provided. Students pay a $20.00 deposit for the combo container and they get their deposit back upon return of the item. Before the implementation of the reusable containers at Augustana, students could take their food to-go in polystyrene foam containers. Now that students must leave a deposit for the ‘grab-and-go,’ many choose to remain in the dining hall instead.
