In addition to the described programs, the University of Alberta will be establishing two new planning degree programs in September 2012. This will include a Bachelor of Arts major in Planning with a broad focus on urban and regional planning; and a Bachelor of Science Specialization in Planning with a focus on environmental planning and use of computer technologies in planning.

The Bachelor of Science program will target students with an interest in natural science elements of planning, including environmental management and the use of geographic information sciences.

The Bachelor of Arts program will target students with an interest in the aesthetic, economic, and social issues of urban and regional planning.
