A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:
In Fall of 2010 the Office of Sustainability held a contest for the Spring 2011 theme which would then be voted upon by the RISE Board (Review of Infrastructure, Sustainability and Energy), which is in charge of monitoring the development of sustainability at UAF and allocates the sustainability fee money. The board decided that the theme would be, "UAF...Ingenuity in Action" which encapsulates the spirit of research and application at UAF. The theme was announced but unfortunately was not applied to the extent possible. In the future we would like the theme to resonate through more of UAFs media and be used in association with the Office of Sustainability and act as a mission statement for UAF Earth Week. We hope be more successful in implementing a theme in the future.
