A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

In October 2008 UAA signed an agreement with 9 other organizations in this geographic area to form the first green district in Alaska. Those other organizations are: Alaska Pacific University, US Geological Survey, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Southcentral Foundation, Alaska Psychiatric Institute, Anchorage School District, McLaughlin Youth Center and Providence Hospital.
The Anchorage School District has a high school job program that helps mentally challenged persons to work in a positive environment while gaining job skills.
