The Sustainability Action Board serves as the advisory board to the Office of Sustainability. Through support of teaching, research, service, study and administration, the Board and Office engage the UAA community and communities state-wide in long-range planning to sustain social-ecological systems, educate campus citizens, promote and reward local sustainability initiatives, support sustainable business practices, and encourage global thinking.

The Sustainability Office consists of a full-time director, a part-time student intern/administrative assistant, a part-time student Recycling Director and 5 part-time student Recycling Crew members. The mission of the Office is set forth above in the mission of the Sustainability Action Board. The vision of the office is: The Office will advance UAA's leadership role in reducing our impact on the environment by promoting and establishing a positive social, ecological and economic legacy for future generations.

A brief description of the sustainability coordinator’s position:
Creating, enhancing, supporting and leading existing and new sustainability programs and initiatives, promoting waste and carbon footprint mitigation, overseeing UAA's recycling program, promoting sustainability on campus, locally and regionally through educational outreach. Working closely with students, faculty and staff to conduct programs on sustainability and work to foster collaboration across the areas of teaching, research, campus operations, student life, and community service. Develop measurable data, monitor and report program performance to UAA leadership.
