Students and employees of UAA enjoy fully subsidized rides on People Mover, the local bus service. Parking Services also offers car sharing through Connect By Hertz and carpooling through Zimride. This information is distributed in paper form to all incoming students and verbally and in writing at new student and at staff orientations. It is also available as a "Parking Brochure" on the website of our Parking Services Division.

The University adopted an Energy Policy in 2008. This is a policy that seeks to reduce our energy use, energy costs and use of non-renewable resources.

The New Student Orientation Office is our first green certified office on campus. Offices across campus have been sent an email asking if they would like to participate in a green office certification program. Student Life and Leadership and offices in our library have responded.

The Office of Sustainability sends out emails and other information on the faculty and staff listservs at least monthly, and to more targeted groups with information about strategies to reduce energy use, reduce flows to the waste stream, and increase recycling. The Office of Sustainability also maintains a sustainability listserv on which information about events occurring throughout the community related to sustainability are distributed.
