Earth Day Initiative - Litter Pickup & T-shirt Contest
A brief description of the campaign:
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety as well as the Sustainability program hosted an Earth Day event in April 2021 by soliciting volunteers to help clean up litter around UAH's campus, held an Earth Day t-shirt design contest, and had Student Organizations set up booths to promote sustainability!

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Several bags of litter were collected that day and participants were given a free t-shirt. Many student organizations recruited new members. Students were able to learn about UAH's Stormwater and Sustainability programs. The Beekeeping club sold several jars of honey and the Community Garden gave away blackberry plants.

AASHE STARS data collection
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Students Sustainability Specialist working with the UAH Sustainability program and various student organizations also engaged departments all over campus in order to collect the data necessary to complete the AASHE STARS report.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Data was collected, stored, and submitted to AASHE for review and for public reporting. Relationships were built and departments were educated and introduced to ways they can support sustainability at UAH.
