As a national research university, UAH offers undergraduates the opportunity to take part in research throughout their academic careers. Hands-on research and creative projects are integral to preparing for a professional career, no matter what field is chosen.

A brief description of the faculty sustainability research program:

Located adjacent to the Redstone Arsenal, an economic engine of over $100 billion per year, UAH faculty, staff, and students are able to conduct research side by side with world-class experts from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, the U.S. Army, the Missile Defense Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and other important Department of Defense partners. UAH regularly ranks among the Top 20 Universities in research funded by NASA and by the Department of Defense, but UAH also performs cutting-edge research for the National Science Foundation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Energy, and the National Institutes of Health. As the anchor tenant of Cummings Research Park, the second-largest corporate research and technology park in the United States, UAH collaborates with over 285 high-technology companies serving the U.S. Aerospace and Defense sectors, as well as scientists and entrepreneurs at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

UAH has achieved status in the High Research Activity category by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, placing UAH among a select group of public universities in America. UAH augments scholarly research in its colleges with its interdisciplinary research centers, ranging from Modeling & Simulation, to Information Assurance, to Aerospace and Systems Engineering. The Salmon Library offers LibChat, a Research Helpdesk, One-on-One Research Consultations.
The Salmon Library supports UAH faculty, staff, and students by offering more than a million printed publications and access to thousands more online publications and resources.
