Tree Campus USA Service Learning Project Grant Competition

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

UAB was a finalist in the Arbor Day Foundation's annual service learning grant competition's large school category in 2015. We hosted a media blitz, including internal and external paper and electronic news releases, internal and external social media posts, and peer to peer communications.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

During the 3-week campaign, our social media responses increased. This has led to more impactful social media efforts since those additional individuals and entities are engaged with our social media platforms.

Bike Safety Week

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):

UAB Sustainability held our first bike safety week in the fall of 2015. This included releasing the new BikeUAB webpages, unveiling a new bike repair station on our main gathering space, social media posts with pictures of prominent faculty and staff on their bikes with UAB-branded helmets, a new bike safety video produced in partnership with the Regional Planning Commission and ZYP Bikeshare, and an event for bike-related vendors in town to mix with UAB cyclists.

Increased bike registrants, public availability of bike safety information.
