Research Inventory
The institution’s inventory of its sustainability research that includes names and department affiliations of faculty and staff engaged in sustainability research:
See attachment. First tab is sustainability research, second tab is PI Home dept, third tab is total individuals involved in research by dept (responsible personnel).
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory (including the types of faculty and staff included as researchers):
The faculty and staff involved in sustainability-related research were identified using the university's Integrated Research Administration Portal (IRAP) through searches of currently funded projects within the Office of Sponsored Programs using keywords shared by UNC Chapel Hill for their previous inventory (see attachment below). Each current project was then evaluated for the total number of staff/faculty involved and home dept, and a UAB Sustainability intern then sorted the data to remove duplication. Total number of faculty and staff involved in research was obtained from the Manager of Research Administration Systems in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.
Many of our current sponsored programs are health-related and though there is subjectivity in selecting sustainability research, at UAB Sustainability we identify health-related research with potentially positive social, environmental, or economic outcomes as sustainability research.
