The University follows the City of Tuscaloosa stormwater ordinance. In addition, whenever possible the University incorporates underground stormwater detention by oversizing proposed underground stormwater pipes to accomodate any potential flash flooding situations. Addisionally, the Unviersity has implemented groundwater recharge via a system of detaining water using a SMART stormwater system holding water via a storm drain control gate on drainage systems which is turn holds back surface water and allows the water to percolate into the ground over time.
