Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes

A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
UA has a pantry that Bama Dining supports through donations and fund raisers. Bama Dining works with the Student Care & Wellbeing to provide meals to students in hardship to meet immediate needs through the Got Meals program. This program was started over 15 years ago and provides thousands of meals to students in hardship every year. Students may donate 1 meal per semester, and through a partnership with SGA two years ago, students may now donate the unused balance of their meal plans at the end of the Spring term.

Bama Dining holds an annual silent auction at the Family Weekend Jazz Brunch in September, and all proceeds from the silent auction go toward the UA Student Life Campus Pantry fund. Last year, Bama Dining donated $2,274 to the pantry. Last year Bama Dining brought back their reusable coffee mug program and $2 of every coffee mug sold goes to the pantry.

Bama Dining allows students to donate a meal to Swipe Away Hunger, a program that provides 500 meals each Thanksgiving and 500 meals each Easter, in partnership with the West Alabama Food Bank.

Bama Dining partners with Beat Auburn Beat Hunger by allowing students to donate Dining Dollars to the canned food drive. Bama Dining also funds all of the barrel wraps every year for BABH and hosts the annual hunger banquet.
