A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

In an age of information overload, having a single point of entry for our campus sustainability efforts, messaging and information is key to developing a robust campus wide sustainability culture. Through an innovative partnership with multiple campus units, we have implemented a web 2.0 dynamic communications and outreach strategy that has transformed our ability to interact with the campus community and beyond. Specifically, the strategy identified the needs of an array of different audience types, inventoried our existing content to develop a comprehensive information architecture, and created a content strategy that informed the building and design of the university’s new portal. The site was built using a content management system that literally allows for the sustainability of the web portal itself, by empowering staff, with only a few hours of training, to change and update content. The site then stays fresh and dynamic to ensure that visitors are receiving the most up to date news and information, and that the university’s sustainability message is always current.
