UAlbany becomes a Health Promoting University
A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
The University at Albany officially adopted the Okanagan Charter, designating the University as a Health Promoting University and establishing it as a member of the United States Health Promoting Campuses Network (USHPCN) in August of 2021. Health Promoting Universities (HPUs) are a community that aspire to transform the health and sustainability of current and future societies, strengthen communities, and contribute to overall well-being. The global initiative is based on evidence showing that people who experience well-being tend to be more productive, are better able to engage in deeper learning, have a greater sense of belonging and stronger sense of community. UAlbany was in the second cohort of seven universities that joined the University of Alabama at Binghamton in the network. Currently, there are 131 members.
