A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In August 2022, the University required all incoming freshman to participate in a two hour service learning event centered around the UN Global Goals called 17 Rooms of Service. The students received instruction on the Global Goals, Sustainability and Leadership as part of their orientation sessions. They then signed up for one of the 17 activities that were created by on and off campus organizations. The sessions were held on the morning of the last day of orientation. Welcome Leaders were also trained in the Global Goals and provided talking points to share with the students engaging in the activities. Over 1,500 students participated. This program received the 2023 Outstanding Student Programming from the SUNY Student Affairs Officers and Silver award for civic engagement from NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators)
