A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
There are multiple ways in which sustainability is highlighted in new student orientation. New undergraduate students participate in a service program as part of their Orientation experience. During this program, students learn about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and engage in a community service project related to one of the goals. Furthermore, prior to the start of Orientation, student Orientation Leaders receive a training on sustainability practices and initiatives which they can communicate to new students. The Student Activities and Orientation Office also promotes a virtual guidebook which highlights the Sustainability office and resources. Finally, the Office of Sustainability tables at the annual Great Danetopia tabling event. During this event, the Office of Sustainability provides information about sustainable practices on campus, student involvement opportunities in sustainability, and other sustainability programs.
