1st program
Eco-Reps
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Eco-Reps are students, RAs, or Housing Managers that work as peer educators and are committed to creating a culture of sustainability at UAlbany. The position welcomes students from diverse majors and backgrounds to encourage sustainable behaviors in the residence halls and throughout campus through programming and communications. Upon completion of all obligations, students will receive monetary payment or course credit.
A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The target audience are UAlbany students. Eco-Reps are managed by a student coordinator. This coordinator conducts an introductory training and holds bi-weekly meetings with the Eco-Reps to review programming and share best practices. Examples of activities include:
Creating bulletin boards, informational flyers, and social media posts on the broader topic of sustainability as well as on how students can implement sustainable practices in their daily lives.
Hosted giveaway of Green Scene themed prizes through University Apartments Instagram page.
Distributed scannable water bottle tags to residents, friends, and family members as part of the University’s participation in the Fill It Forward campaign.
Participated in and encouraged residents to make pledges for the semester’s Energy Campaign.
Submitted video clips explaining the Eco-Rep Program and their passions relating to sustainability in order to create a larger Giving Tuesday video appeal, raising $475.
