Does the institution use a centralized energy management system that allows it to track energy consumption and performance in multiple buildings in a central location?:
A brief description of the management system:
We do have energy management system that is centrally controlled. Most buildings are on Honeywell whereas some are on Siemens EMS. The head end for both systems is located in the power plant for central control. We setup air handler schedules and temperature set points on the EMS. The EMS also collects data on chilled water usage in each building. Additionally, we also have Trane Tracer control system for the chilled water plant that allows us to automate and optimize plant operation. We also have electric sub-meters on each building that send 15-minute data to the Powerlogic server located in the power plant. Together, these systems provide information to the campus Facilities department, Physical Plant and Energy Office to track performance of various mechanical systems and electrical energy usage throughout the campus and centrally control the devices.
