A brief description of the institution’s community garden:

Université Laval has several initiatives related to urban agriculture on its campus.

The Université Laval Organic Community Garden
The Université Laval Organic Community Garden (JCBUL) is a project taking place on the Université Laval campus. It offers members of the Quebec City community the opportunity to rent a plot of land for gardening. Université Laval students are given priority in the allocation of plots. The garden consists of 300 plots of 17 square meters each. The agriculture is exclusively organic and allows members to have access to workshops on good gardening practices.

The Edible Garden
The Edible Garden is an initiative of Université Laval to offer its members access to vegetables and herbs directly on campus at the exit of the central pavilions. The food is self-serve and harvestable during the summer. Only natural fertilizers are used in order to promote an organic culture.

The Fruit Alley
L'allée-fruitée is a project of the student association Univert Laval held on campus. Made up of small fruit trees, apple and pear trees, the alley allows the student community to have access to quality fruits that are sold in baskets by the association.
The project not only allows for urban agriculture, it is also a popular education tool for the community. It aims to promote and encourage urban agriculture practices among community members.

Food Campus Project
The Campus nourricier project is a student project of the association VIA Agroécologie. Implemented on the campus of Université Laval, it aims to promote the development of fruit trees on the grounds. It started on a garden plot and will be extended to less traditional locations in the coming years.
Trees planted include apple, pear, plum, plum-cherry, strawberry, cameo and many others. The crops are sold at the ULaval Local Market at a low cost.
