Université Laval contributed to Ville de Québec’s consultations around sustainable mobility and public transport structuring network, a brief (mémoire) was submitted on august 10th (2017) and presented to municipal authorities on august 24th. The "mémoire" was under the supervision of the Executive Vice-rectorate – top administrator of Université Laval.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
In 2019, the Québec Minister of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change announced a broad consultation as part of the development of the Electrification and Climate Change Plan (PECC). This consultation offered an opportunity for Université Laval, as a higher education institution, to prepare a brief, contributing to the achievement of the objectives set by the Quebec government in terms of reducing GHG emissions. Université Laval's observations and recommendations concern, on the one hand, teaching and research and, on the other, the management of infrastructures. Université Laval participated to the Quebec universities pension plans law consultations advocating for maintaining the living standards of people (pensioners and future pensioners) and the ability of universities to meet their financial obligations. The brief and the consultation were under the supervision of the External Affairs, International and Health Vice-rector of Université Laval

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
In august 2019, a brief was produced by Université Laval and submitted to the Standing Committee on Finance of the House of commons (Government of Canada) regarding pre-budget consultations. It was constituted mainly of three recommandation on strategic investments on education and research to prepare collaborative and innovative integrated projects to address contemporary issues as reducing carbon footprints (cities & campuses) and climate change. This brief was under the supervision of the rector of Université Laval.

Yes

Université Laval signed a declaration of "climate crisis state of urgency", following a call of action from "The Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education" of the UNEP. This is a recognition of the necessity of a social change to tackle climate change by three structuring changes : to engage towards carbon neutrality ; to mobilize resources in research dedicated to climate change remediation and competencies development ; to grant a better access to environmental and sustainability education within programs, campus and awareness-raising programs in communities.
