A brief description of the institution’s bicycle program, including the year the award was achieved and/or renewed:

In May 2016, Université Laval earned the Gold level of the first round of certification for the Bicycle Movement. This Movement is an initiative of Vélo Québec and is inspired by the Bicycle Friendly America program. Universite laval, described as a model, has distinguished itself by its cycling facilities, its overall vision and by its promotional and awareness-raising activities. Here are some examples:

- bike racks, a secure enclosure and secure lockers for more than 2,300 bicycles;
- a network of more than 7km of cycling tracks and trails on a 1.8km2 campus;
- showers in several pavilions;
- self-service repair kiosks and a co-operative bicycle mechanics workshop (Coop Roue-Libre);
- a bicycle rental service;
- training on bike mechanics offered by the cooperative workshop as well as conferences and activities;
- information for cyclists (infrastructure plan, resources, security), on the website;
- activities during the month of cycling and week of active and collective transport;
- bicycle patrollers,
- and measures supporting sustainable transport users such as the guaranteed home return program and the discount on daily parking.
