A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction:

The vice-rector of human resources conducted an employee motivation survey in May 2010. To safeguard confidentiality, Hewitt was hired to administer the survey and compile the data.
The survey was sent to 5,565 regular and temporary staff from all job groups represented at the university, excluding student staff. It was conducted between May 12 and June 2, 2010, and 2,261 staff members, or 41% of survey recipients, responded.

The survey asked over a hundred questions covering 21 motivators. The anonymized results were released in December 2010. The survey results were emailed to all staff, and visits were made to the 34 participating units to discuss their specific results and the takeaways for the HR action plan.
