A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
The university has a training program for new faculty and doctoral students called Plaisir d’apprendre [The Joy of Learning]. The goals of the program are to
•Improve their teaching skills by imparting specialized knowledge and introducing or reinforcing skills and attitudes to help them personalize learning
•Create a learning community in which they can help one another become better teachers
•Introduce major changes during a short class

Financial aid is also available to minorities and to students who would like to pursue a doctorate:
-Automatic doctoral admission scholarships, a success assistance program for doctoral students including financial aid.

-In an effort to attract the best Ph.D. students and provide them with better academic support, foreign students enrolling full-time in a regular doctoral program at Université Laval may pay the same tuition as students from Quebec.
