A brief description of the event(s):

Université Laval regularly holds lectures, workshops, and round tables to raise public and university community awareness of sustainability issues. These events are organized by Institut Hydro-Québec en environnement, développement et société (Institut EDS) on behalf of the university. In 2012, more than 1,000 people attended sustainable development lectures by professionals working in the field of sustainable development. Examples include:
- “Beautifying the city,” a lecture organized in partnership with CRAD as part of the “Challenges facing cities in the era of sustainable development” lecture series
- Institut EDS annual student seminar
- Lecture titled “Water management: source of conflict or cooperation?”
- Round table on northern Québec and sustainable resource management
- Lecture organized in partnership with the International Development Chair titled “A look back at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20)”
