Does the institution have an ongoing program or programs that offer incentives for faculty in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses?:
Yes

A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years (e.g. descriptions of new courses or course content resulting from the program):

The Université de Sherbrooke offers its faculty members a fund to promote the quality of training at all levels, including continuing education, and thereby encourage and support pedagogical innovation.

It is in this context that the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Fonds d'innovation pédagogique (FIP), meaning Pedagogical Innovation Fund, prioritized the integration of the international, intercultural and sustainable development themes as part of one of the five priority themes pertaining to the Université de Sherbrooke’s academic development. Notwithstanding such an initiative, it has to be noted that the Office of the Vice-President Administration and Sustainable Development is constantly working with the Office of the Vice-President Academic to create ad hoc funds aimed for the development of courses focused on sustainability.

The FIP notably led to the deployment of distance education at the Environment and Sustainable Development University Training Center (Centre universitaire de formation en environnement et développement durable (CUFE)), to the implementation of the Collective Challenges and Sustainable Development course and supported the integration of sustainable development in a cross-disciplinary way to the engineering programs; only a few examples of positive conclusive evidence of such an undertaking.

For the 2019-2020 competition (ensured by a call for projects), the interdisciplinarity thematic was favored. For the next competition, the Vice-President Academic has made a commitment to introduce the eco-friendly thematic.

Sustainable Development Education Advisor

Project management and communications in sustainable development;
Writing for the blog L'éveilleur of the Service de soutien à la formation (SSF), meaning the Training Support Service, as well as in its Perspectives newsletter;
Monitoring of sustainable development in higher education.

The Sustainable Development Education Advisor is responsible for the Education and Eco-Friendly Committee which brings together various faculty members whose main objective is to develop course curricula by integrating sustainable development into all teaching options. The Sustainable Development Education Advisor also refers professionals to various programs, conferences, associations or available training.

A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:

The FIP offers financial support and educational support as needed. The University's various professionals and faculty members are regularly invited to participate in the program which includes possibilities of various benefits such as funding, release time and training.
