Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution, including how each program addresses the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability:

The Groupe de collaboration internationale en ingénierie de l'Université de Sherbrooke (GCIUS), meaning International Engineering Collaboration Group of the Université de Sherbrooke, develops and implements engineering projects that ensure the sustainable development of communities in need.

GCIUS is a non-profit, charitable organization. Its executive and board of Governors are comprised of GCIUS members who are third-year students in the Faculty of Engineering. The group benefits from a guidance council comprised of faculty members, private industry professionals, former co-operants and members of the GCIUS.

GCIUS is the ultimate student experience. The internship is open to Université de Sherbrooke's students at the bachelor's or master's level in all fields. This is a great opportunity to take part in an international collaborative internship through a sustainable engineering project. Its participants have the opportunity to choose and fully manage a large-scale project. It is therefore a journey of educational immersion where each student has the opportunity to achieve his or her greatest ambitions. The mandate consists of a 12-month involvement in GCIUS, including a 4-month internship recognized by the University's Co-op Work Term and Professional Development Services.

Vision:
GCIUS envisions a world of solidarity where developing communities have the means, technologies and infrastructure to embrace the principle of sustainable development.

Mission:
Carry out sustainable engineering projects in developing countries and optimize the positive impact of these projects on the standard of living of communities. The GCIUS has demonstrated that it has a major impact in the communities visited. Its mission is to carry out projects with a sustainable impact and this is how the impact of GCIUS in the long term can be seen. It continuously works with the word sustainability in mind to ensure the sustainability and viability of the projects.

Values and principles:
GCIUS conveys values such as social equity, sustainable development, justice and the sharing of appropriate technologies. The group encourages the initiative and involvement of Canadian engineers internationally. GCIUS also promotes the involvement of the local population in the work in order to facilitate technological exchanges and enhance sustainable development while respecting cultural differences.
