Course "The heat is up! Cross disciplinar perspectives on climate change negotiations"(2015): The Science and Technology Department hosted ten students of the Master in Environmental Citizenship and Participation and the PhD in Social Sustainability and Development, who participated in the course in cooperation with Interdisciplinary Distance - Study Program of Environmental Science (Infernum), at the University of Hagen, Germany under the DAAD program"Dialogue with universities in Southern Europe". At the framework of Erasmus + for Virtual Mobility.
e-Sustainability Doctoral Seminar:
This is an annual seminar whose main objective is the presentation of research papers resulting from the theses underway or already concluded in the scope of the PhD in Social Sustainability and Development of the Open University. It also allows for the exchange of experiences and the sharing of knowledge with the faculty members of the course, with other members of the Academy and with external lecturer (s) who, within the scope of the doctoral subjects, present the research work and projects in which and the activities they develop. This is a space of work and confrontation of ideas between the student community and the teachers connected to the course.

DreamLab on UAb - "Integrating sustainability - what are the dreams?New ways of this dialogue and collaboration" (May, 2016)
This two parts seminar was based on the Dragon Dreaming methodology, creating a meeting space to explore new paths of dialogue and collaboration, with the help of the methodology dreaming of a holistic integration of sustainability in the various activities of the Open University.

The undergraduate course in Environmental Sciences has two practical disciplines, namely FIELD WORKS I and II that require at least 10 exits for the exterior with duration of 1 day each. Each of the practical activities planned is guided by a script, which will include objectives, work proposals and indication of support materials, including multimedia resources. This module takes place in a region of Portugal, selected annually for this purpose. This includes activities such as conducting biological / geological / geographic / ecological journeys, visits to production units for organic certification products, contact with local authorities and associations, visits to rural / ecological tourism units, visits to organizations with environmental certification (eg ISO 14001 or EMAS), visits to an intermunicipal waste management system, visit to a Wastewater Treatment Station, and others.

"Is the Environment no longer fashionable?" is a 4 week brief and open course, in which the participants will be made aware of the importance of the environment and, consequently, of their study. It seeks to stimulate reflection, critical analysis and the collaborative dialogue on four topics, of enormous relevance: Is garbage a value? Are finite resources? Will consumption patterns have to change? And your gesture, can it make a difference?
