The Sustainability Steering Group is a multidisciplinary team of experts from various fields, responsible for coordinating and overseeing sustainability initiatives at UTEC. Its goal is to ensure the effective implementation of the sustainability policy, promote sustainable practices across all areas of the university, and align institutional efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Academic Department of Environmental Sustainability at the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) is dedicated to education, research, and innovation in sustainability and environmental topics. The department offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs that integrate sustainability principles across various disciplines, preparing students to tackle the environmental challenges of the 21st century. Additionally, the department drives research projects and collaborates with communities and organizations to promote sustainable practices and innovative solutions that contribute to sustainable development in Uruguay and the region. Its focus is both local and global, addressing critical environmental issues through an interdisciplinary and science-based approach.

At the time of writing this report, the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) has a comprehensive program for all students called the Transversal Program of Sustainability for Development. This program offers courses available to all students, staff, and the community. Additionally, it facilitates community outreach initiatives and university extension projects, as well as research endeavors.
All UTEC students are required to earn credits from the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for graduation. This transversal program is conducted within this department.
