A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

A survey with a quantitative approach was conducted, covering all employees, with a response rate of 71%. Additionally, a qualitative approach was implemented with directors and coordinators. The process was carried out by a consultancy firm specialized in the field.


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

The main issues identified in the climate survey are addressed at multiple levels. First, they are presented to the UTEC central board and the strategic committee to determine improvement actions. Consequently, the focus on people development is aligned with continuous improvement and career growth for all staff members. In this way, climate improvement actions are integrated into the Annual Operating Plans (POA) of the Center for People Development (CDP) for subsequent years.

Organizational Climate and Culture

  • Study conducted among faculty and technical support staff
    Response rate of 71%.

  • 88% feel proud or very proud to work at UTEC

  • 89% are satisfied or very satisfied with their job

  • 67% feel recognized or highly recognized for their work


Additional Data from the Climate Study:

  • 79% feel fairly or very much a part of the UTEC project.
  • 80% are satisfied or very satisfied with their direct supervisor.
  • 91% are satisfied or very satisfied with their relationship with colleagues.
  • 68% are satisfied or very satisfied with their professional development.
  • 56% are satisfied or very satisfied with work conditions and benefits (flexibility, remote work, etc.).
  • 61% are satisfied or very satisfied with their salary.

Performance Evaluation in 2022:

  • Total contracts: 690.

  • A total of 604 evaluations were completed (100% of those due for evaluation).

  • 86 contracts were not evaluated due to:

    • 49 being out of the evaluation period,
    • 37 due to interns, temporary contracts, leave without pay, resignations, or position changes.
  • 93.5% of those evaluated fully met or exceeded expectations.


Performance Evaluation in 2023:

  • 557 interim evaluations were completed (with 19 employees not evaluated due to various reasons such as annual leave, maternity leave, etc.).
  • 91.5% met the goals and competencies satisfactorily.
  • 7.5% saw changes or agreed on new goals based on new needs.
  • 1% were identified as at risk of not meeting expected objectives or competencies.

People Development Center in 2023:

Implementation of work lines developed following the climate survey results:

  1. First Call for Funding postgraduate studies for employees.
  2. Partnership with Tu Terapia (a digital therapy platform) for discounted therapy sessions, aimed at promoting mental health. Applies to employees, students, and their families.
  3. Reduced working hours for breastfeeding for up to nine months after the end of maternity leave.
  4. Agreement with BPS for financial support for glasses, orthotics, and prostheses.
  5. Healthy Days: Introduction of fruit available to all UTEC staff.
  6. Exit survey to gather insights on institutional climate and identify improvements.
