A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:

The General Diversity Commission (CGD) of UTEC is a voluntary and honorary committee created in 2019 by Act 45/19, item 20. It operates independently and across the entire university, with administrative support from the Center for People Development but with its own budget. The CGD is composed of staff members who volunteer to serve on it. It engages in long-term work aimed at systemic change while also addressing urgent situations, collaborating interdisciplinarily with different units in all initiatives.

Activities carried out in 2023

Workshop 1 - Introduction to Gender and the Trans Community

The first virtual workshop of the year was on the topic "Introduction to Gender and the Trans Community," conducted by CTU (Uruguayan Trans Collective). It took place on August 17 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and included simultaneous Spanish-LSU interpretation provided by the Viceversa Cooperative.

The topics covered were: basic gender concepts, gender identity, LGBTQIA+, non-binarity, cis, trans, and non-binary concepts.
