Universidad de Monterrey has vendors that utilice an Integrated Pest Management Plan in all campus. Reports from vendors are send periodically to our Maintenance and Construction department.
Our service provider determines applicable locations and identify the level of insects and infestations, always notifying UDEM. All pesticides used shall hold no harm to out plans.


A brief description of the institution's approach to plant stewardship:

The plantting palette was developed in conjunction with Prohabitat and the UDEM Horticultural deparment. The prevaling planting strategy is to ude indigenous materials reducing the need for unnecesary water use. The native and/or Naturalized plant palette considers:
Shade: The planting of many large shade trees adjacent to pedestrian circulation and integrated with open spaces establish confortable micro-climates in critical areas.
Lawn: water thirsty lawns are confined to specific funtion areas. Drought tolerant species such as red Fescue and Korean Bunch Grass are to be used to reduce the need for additional irrigation and respect the regional landscape. Lawn shoul not be used as ground cover on slopes exceeding 30%.
Fertilizer and pesticide use is used at minimum level on efforts to protect the land and water resources.

Whenever possible best management practices should be apply to allow natural percolation of storm water for increase drainage on-site. This is achieve by both slowing the flow rate of storm water and collecting, storing, and cleansing water.

All organic materials such as leaf and wood are managed but "Area Verde" whom also are in charge of compoting all materials.
