Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

In order to quantify direct and indirect emissions from the University of Monterrey, greenhouse gas estimates were made using the following methodologies:
• GHG Protocol
• ISO 14064-1

Scope 1.
The Emissions Calculator of the National Emissions Registry (RENE) version 8, Update April 2021 was used to estimate emissions from the use of Natural Gas with an emission factor of 0.00236 tCO2 / m3GN
https://www.gob.mx/semarnat/acciones-y-programas/registro-nacional-de-emisiones-rene

Scope 2.
To calculate GHG emissions from electricity consumption, the GHG emission factor reported by the Registro Nacional de Emisiones (RENE) of 0.494 tCO2eq/MWh was used.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:

Etica y Estrategia is a third party that reviews all information based in the GRI Initiative. This third party validates our emissions calculations before sending the information to GRI in the Netherlands.

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 147.27 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
147.27 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year (market-based):
Weight in MTCO2e
Imported electricity 6,324.38 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
6,324.38 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross GHG emissions from biogenic sources, performance year:
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Does the GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from the following sources?:
Yes or No Weight in MTCO2e
Business travel Yes 1,533.73 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Commuting Yes 4,494.81 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Purchased goods and services Yes 7.17 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Capital goods --- ---
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 --- ---
Waste generated in operations --- ---
Other sources --- ---

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
6,035.71 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:

Scope 3 emissions for Institutional Travel were calculated in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) calculator available at https://www.icao.int/environmental-protection/Carbonoffset/Pages/default.aspx

Emissions from commuting were calculated from local fuel emission factors, average car models for each type of transportation, and average distance traveled from home to university for the Udem population. Information collected by the Mobility department, and the local fuel emission factors were taken from the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (Inecc, 2014) https://www.gob.mx/cms/uploads/attachment/file/110131/CGCCDBC_2014_FE_tipos_combustibles_fosiles.pdf

Emissions from goods and services reflect the emissions generated by the landscaping service. The supplier reports the Activity Data, and the emission factor was taken from INECC 2014.

Has the institution completed an inventory within the previous three years to quantify its air pollutant emissions?:
Yes

Annual weight of emissions for::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) 0.00 Metric tons
Sulfur oxides (SOx) ---
Carbon monoxide (CO) ---
Particulate matter (PM) ---
Ozone (O3) ---
Lead (Pb) ---
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) ---
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) ---
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 0.01 Metric tons

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources Yes
Area sources ---
Mobile sources Yes
Commuting ---
Off-site electricity production ---

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:

Fuel consumptions were taken and FE defined by national institutions were assigned, which only report emission factors of CH4 and N2O.

No emission factors were found for the other air pollutants.

The amounts reported represent the emissions generated from 2018 to 2020.

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from purchased electricity (location-based):
4,743.29 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy (location-based) :
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Emissions from waste generation (waste discharged to landfills) have been calculated taking the FE indicated by INECC (2007) at http://www2.inecc.gob.mx/descargas/cclimatico/e2007a.pdf, Table 1, Column H.

However, they are not included in this inventory because the category was not found.
