A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:
PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY UNIT - UBI The UBI has a focus on providing services and research for the agricultural, forestry and other sectors. It directs its efforts to the detection of viruses and viroids, research and development in the production of secondary metabolites through biotechnological techniques and in vitro plant propagation techniques. It is the laboratory in charge of the detection of viruses and viroids in vegetables and flower crops with molecular techniques. The main novelty and difference of the product is working with viruses and viroids in vegetables and focusing on treating them preventively and with an interest in increasing productivity.
INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY UNIT In this space, different experimental research projects can be developed at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels. Here, students can carry out investigative work related to the cultivation of microorganisms, fermentation processes, obtaining biomass and its active metabolites, biological activity tests, among others. It has infrastructure, aimed at submerged and conventional cultivation of edible and medicinal mushrooms. The objective of the laboratory is to obtain bioactive and/or functional ingredients that can be incorporated into different food, cosmetic, phytotherapeutic matrices or for the agricultural sector.
BIOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS - CBUCES The Biological Collections of the CES University - CBUCES (national registry of collections: 209), were created and registered in 2014, and are a support to the teaching, research and extension processes at the University. In particular, they support courses and research projects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, from the faculties of Medicine, Sciences and Biotechnology, and Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics.
