Plastic Waste Reduction: Zero Straws

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
To address the issue of downstream pollution and habitat degradation caused in particular by plastic straws, Unity College has ceased supplying straws anywhere on campus. Our retail dining location does not stock them and in the campus store we sell paper and metal reusable straws. At our catered events, we replaced plastic stirrers with linguine sticks. New in spring of 2018, we provided all students with a reusable straw during Unity Unplugged event.
