A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
New Student Orientation is one program of the first-year experience that includes our wilderness orientation trips (NOVA), new student orientation (NSO), and first-year seminar (Unity Experience). New Student Orientation often adopts a sustainability theme (recently, "Got Green?" and "Local Living"), and emphasizes the theme through programming and messaging. Campus ambassadors are trained to support and design sustainability activities for New Student Orientation, and the Sustainability Office has a strong presence at orientation activities.
