A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
A Campus Service program is conducted for two hours every week on Wednesday mornings. About half of the students and employees work on campus while the other half volunteer in Las Vegas. Several groups volunteer at four local schools where they engage with students on a number of different activities including tutoring in reading, conducting STEM-related experiments, teaching philiosophy, etc. Another group volunteers at the San Miquel County Detention Center, where they conduct visual arts projects with detainees. There are also a number of Experiential Education activities in Las Vegas that revolve around community services as well, including those related to serving food in local food shelters and working at an animal rescue center.
