Yes

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
51

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
In 2022, UMass Chan participated in the Boston Globe Top Places to Work survey where the confidential employee engagement survey results was submitted. The survey contains an estimated 28 simple statements and employees were asked to select their response on an “agree/disagree” scale. Most of the statements are designed to assess how employees view the culture of the medical school, although several assess employees’ perspective about salary, work/life balance, benefits, and training opportunities. The survey concludes with three open-ended questions:
1) What three words best describe the culture at UMass Chan?
2) What do you like most?
3) How could UMass Chan better help you do your job?

Methodology for sharing the survey:
- All full-time, benefitted UMass Chan employees received the survey link, excluding Graduate Medical Education.
- This means the survey was sent to approximately 3,900 employees, meaning that we had to reach the required 35% response rate, roughly 1,365 employees must complete the survey.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
The information obtained from the Satisfaction Survey is reviewed by HR Leadership and the results and recommendations are brought up to the Executive Leadership level for approval. More generally, the HR people strategy supports translating results into initiatives.
