A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
UMass Chan has a Stormwater Management Program that was published in 2022, which incorporates low impact development into every facet of project planning. In addition, UMass Chan uses permeable pavers for our courtyards, which are also being implemented in the construction of our newest research building.

The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan Medical School) is committed to
sustainability throughout our operations, as well as by encouraging sustainable practices among
students, faculty and staff. This commitment extends to protecting water resources through education,
stewardship, and facility operations that prevent stormwater pollution. UMass Chan Medical School’s
Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) outlines UMass Chan Medical School’s existing and
planned measures to protect water resources and to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination
