A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
UMass Chan Cares is a way for those in the UMass Chan community – faculty, staff and learners - to connect with our neighbors and those we serve, both locally and throughout the commonwealth, by contributing financially or volunteering their time
https://www.umassmed.edu/ocgr/umass-chan-cares/
The UMass Chan Cares volunteer time off initiative supports those in the UMass Chan community who have the capacity and desire to serve the broader community through volunteer efforts. Eligible employees may take up to 16 hours of paid time off in each calendar year to perform volunteer services during regular business hours at eligible non-profit organizations or in accordance with the school’s Volunteer Time Policy. Information on the UMass Chan Cares volunteer initiative and how to volunteer can be found in our frequently asked questions document below.
Learners are encouraged to explore volunteer opportunities coordinated through a number of student-led organizations as well as the COVID and public health-related volunteer activities organized by the Crisis and Emergency Preparedness Committee.
