UMass Student Garden was created in July 2019 to promote "food as medicine" on campus. The garden consists of 4 raised beds, three dedicated to vegetables and one demonstration medicinal herb garden.

UMass Medical School, School of Medicine Learning Communities adopt legacy projects which provide a positive impact on the Worcester community, many of which grew out of student capstone projects with a focus on providing support for disadvantaged populations. Initiatives include: supporting flu and vaccination clinic in Worcester Public School, donating backpacks with supplies to patients being discharged into DCF care, and supporting the Worcester Refugee Assistance Project (WRAP) which serves local refugees from Burma.
