A brief description of the plan(s) to advance sustainability in Air and Climate:
UMMS has a Climate Action Plant was completed in 2009 and outlines strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Medical School has plans to additionally complete an climate mitigation plan in FY16 which will serve as a follow up to the original Climate Action Plan and help determine how the campus can meet GHG reduction goals set by the ACUPCC and the Massachusetts Executive Order 484.
None
The measurable objectives, strategies and timeframes included in the Air and Climate plan(s):
Current interim goals set by the Climate Action Plan include 25% reduction in GHG emissions below 2007 baseline by 2025, 50% reduction by 2040, 75% reduction by 2050, and climate neutrality by 2060. UMMS will continue to report greenhouse gas emissions through ACUPCC to track progress on meeting goals.
Additionally, Massachusetts E.O. 484 set greenhouse gas reduction goals including a 25% reduction below 2002 by 2012, 40% reduction by 2020, and an 80% reduction by 2050. UMMS continues to report to the State on greenhouse gas emissions.

A brief description of the plan(s) to advance sustainability in Buildings:
Building efficiency is a component of the Medical school's Climate Action Plan. Additionally, UMMS is committed to building performance objectives identified in E.O 484 which establish green building standards and energy use reduction goals.
UMMS has established a building performance initiative where member of facilities management meet bi-monthly to review building performance.
None
The measurable objectives, strategies and timeframes included in the Buildings plan(s):
The Climate Action Plan outline strategies for building efficiency including continued energy and water efficiency improvements, upgrades to the HVAC systems, laboratories, plumbing and fixtures, lighting, refrigeration and other plug load. Green building and LEED certification is another component addressed in the Plan, specifically as it relates to the construction of the Ambulatory Care Center and the Albert Sherman Center which were certified LEED Silver and LEED gold respectively.
UMMS is additionally committed to E.O. 484 which established green building standards for State building. Under this E.O. 484 building must achieve Massachusetts LEED Plus green building standard which requires energy performance to be 20% better than the Massachusetts Energy Code, reducing outdoor water consumption by 50% and indoor water consumption by 20%.
UMMS uses site energy use intensity and domestic water consumption as the primary metrics to gauge building performance. Energy Efficiency projects are tracked and reviewed monthly with facilities engineering and construction to ensure projects are moving forward. UMass Medical School repot annual on building performance.

None
The measurable objectives, strategies and timeframes included in the Energy plan(s):
Strategies for reduction in energy use include continued energy efficiency upgrades to the HVAC systems, lighting, refrigeration and other plug load. E.O. 484 identities measurable targets for reductions in energy use intensity. These targets include a reduction in EUI of 20% below 2004 baseline by 2012, and 35% by 2020.
UMMS also received energy efficiency project recommendation through the State's Accelerated Energy Program, which will be used to help guide energy projects moving forward.
