A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
The dining services program at UMASS Medical School is run by Morrison Management Specialists. Morrison Management Specialists maintain a sustainable food purchasing initiative under their parent company Compass Group. This company strives to buy "local" produce. "Local" is defined as grown within 150 miles of where the product will be consumed. Also, this dining services program offers Fair Trade coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
