Tufts' Campus is particularly welcoming to LGBT students through active organizations and student groups, such as the LGBT Center and its full-time staff, the Rainbow House, where LGBT student may choose to live and which hosts major LGBT social events, and over ten other LGBT student groups. Many LGBT students, faculty, and administrators are out and advertise their presence on campus annually on Coming Out Day. The Boston area is also known for a rich LGBT life, being the first place in the United States to legalize same-sex marriage and having some of the strongest anti-discrimination statutes in the country.
