A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:
The Multicultural Affairs Center (MAC) at Truman State University provides support programs for underrepresented groups in the following ways: •Scholastic Enhancement Experience Program — This program provides a two week program prior to the start of school in fall for first year students. The program is designed to assist in the acclimation to Truman for underrepresented students. •MAC/Success Center Tutoring Program — Tutoring offered in the MAC and at other locations around campus free of charge •Peer Mentoring Program — This program provides the opportunity for incoming students to be paired with an upper-division student mentor. •Academic Success Group - A group of 15 students who are in danger of losing their scholarships. These 15 students meet one on one with a MAC staff member. Social Support: •Social Organizations-The MAC supports several affinity groups such as the Association of Black Collegians and the Hispanic American Leadership Organization, amongst others. •Greek Organizations — The MAC supports several historically black, latino, or other specific group fraternity and sororities.
