A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The committee hired the first sustainability coordinator for the campus. The sustainability coordinator was first tasked with creating a recycling bin inventory and a water fountain inventory. These led to a series of suggestion brought to the sustainability committee that promoted a sustainable campus. Some of the suggestions and projects that are underway are increasing the number of water bottle filling stations to reduce the purchasing of bottled water, educating students on single stream recycling and upgrading recycling bin lids. We have also successfully launched a new composting program. Our old program involved students taking food scraps to a local community garden for composting. In our new program we partnered with Blue Earth compost,a local compost hauling company. Through this partnership we can compost all food waste from the dining halls and all Green-ware products used.
