A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :

The total number of coursed offered by Trinity College is stated on the Academics website and listed in the course catalog. https://www.trincoll.edu/academics/

After meeting with the Trinity College Sustainability Committee we decided to focus on selecting courses that at least included environmental sustainability. Courses that included social and economic sustainability were only identified as a sustainability courses if environmental sustainability was also a focus in the course.

Our method in putting together the list was to look for references to environmental sustainability, broadly conceived, in course descriptions and to email selected faculty members whose course descriptions did not quite seem to fit, so that they could make the final call. Finally we shared a completed list of environmental sustainability courses to a select few of professors from different departments to approve and add courses to the list.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted (if different from the options outlined above):

A course was counted more than once if it was taught during a different semesters over our two year period. Multiple sections of the same course during the same semester were only counted as one course. Courses with cross-listing were counted as a different courses. In the inventory there are 95 courses listed but there are seven cross listings. According to our methodology there have been 102 courses in the past two years that are about or include sustainability.
