Building safety coordinators are the first employees offered the role. If they aren't interested, other employees are offered the job.

Like the student conservation coordinators, staff conservation coordinators meet once a semester to go over their duties and the sustainability programs for the semester. Staff coordinators are responsible for sharing materials and information with those in their building. They also are asked to look for and report conservation-related problems related to maintenance issues or behavior.

The coordinators are paid $100 per semester for their time. Food, usually lunch, is provided at the beginning of semester meetings. The stipend comes from the university general fund. The meals are paid for by the sustainability office.
