A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

Student Groups:
*Black Student Alliance, a leadership organization designed to enhance the cultural, intellectual, and personal growth of African American students in the Transylvania community.
* The Diversity Action Council (DAC) is comprised of students and advised by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Designed as a resource for students who are passionate about diversity issues, DAC works to achieve this goal through cultural awareness, community outreach, and community awareness initiatives.
* TUnity, a group dedicated to unifying Transylvania's gay and straight communities
* SAGE (Sexual Assault and Gender Education committee),a group of faculty and staff committed to empowering responsible citizenship around sexual violence, harassment, and gender issues.

We also have a part-time International Student Advisor who helps our international students adjust to life on campus.
